My Handy Widgets as a Home Worker

For those who are just like me who’s main source of income is by working online, it is still really important for us to become more functional and effective in dealing with our daily online job even if we have other priorities at home like tending our husband and children, doing household chores, etc.

With the aid of my handy widgets, it makes my life a lot easier so I can spend more time with my family.

Here are some of my widgets at home:

• ASUS K40IJ notebook

I like this laptop model since as a work at home mom it’s pretty obvious that I need to spend a lot of hours working on the internet since K401J features Ice-Cool spec it’s a lot easier for me to work even for longer time.

• iPod Touch 4

This gadget is pretty handy most especially during morning when I need to check all my urgent emails and during at night when my laptop is off. I also used it to open my Facebook account to update my status and for managing Facebook fan pages. Also, for capturing all the unforgettable moments and milestones of my son even if I am busy with work.

• Nokia C3

I used this widget to manage Twitter accounts even if I’m not at home and for times that something unexpected happened and I didn’t bring my laptop with me. My phone would definitely save me during those unpredictable times. I can also go online wherever I may go with or without a wifi connection.

 • GE X5

As a work at home mom, one thing that I never forget is to have a time with my children even if I’m busy. That’s why I used my camera to capture all the moments whenever I get to play with my children at home.

Hence, working from home isn’t expensive at all. You can use any gadget/mobile you have especially if you’re on the go, babysitting or doing the house chores.

WAHM vs SAHM

Mothers usually spend most of their time inside the house, but their activities differ based how they prefer to spend their time.

Some Moms occupy their time by simply being a full time mom. By this I mean that she does the duty of a typical mom and almost all of the responsibility inside the house. This is possible because a typical mom controls his own time without being bothered by anything that might consume his valuable moment to spend with the family. And of course, the implication of this adequacy in time spent with the family is an improved family relationship, by which you could be able to monitor almost all of the updates in the lives of the family members, and hence, the attitude of everyone inside the family could be improved specially the children. And also, with greater time spent with the family, greater care is given to the family members and the higher comfort that they would feel because no other person can give a better comfort than a mother, right? But being a stay at home mom also has its consequences, one of which is that no profit would be gained by the mother which means that no financial support could be given to the family aside from that which is derived from the father’s wages.

Another type of mom could be known as WAHM or the work at home mom. They are the ones who take the risk of doubling their efforts for an additional profit to support the needs of the family; they are the ones that prefer to support their families by choosing to work inside their home, these works which I am referring to could be freelance working. And these types of mothers are the ones that I look up to the most because although there time is divided between work and the family, they still manage to maintain a good relationship between their families and to serve them at her best. It is indeed tiresome to manage the time spent with the people you love and the time spent in work, but still they have the strength within themselves to serve their family with an engraved smile on their faces and a loving heart.

Work at Home Mom and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Are you tired being a career woman and at the same time a mother to your children? Are you a suffering from too many demands and pressures? There are so many women these days that are breaking in to the workforce and few of them are “moms.” Although you may have not reckoned it yet, you are actually working more than the usual working hours of 9 – 5 hours! Due to this, work at home moms are very prone to stress and extreme weariness cause by attempting to balance between career life, family and social life. Worries and stress can make work at home mom feel weak and tired.

Stress has long been aligned to several health issues, both the severe and recurring illnesses like heart attack, arthritis, and eczema. The possible health problems you may acquire from working at home are RSI or repetitive strain injury and carpal tunnel syndrome. What you may not figure out is that those things and many more can become a health issue for you when you work for home.

One of the most commonly recognized work at home health problems is carpal tunnel syndrome. The carpal tunnel is the spot within your wrist where the nerve goes into the hand. It is commonly slender and so any swelling can cramp the nerve and can result so numbness, muscle pain, weakness and worst muscle damage and this is referred as carpal tunnel syndrome. Carpal tunnel syndrome is very ordinary to those people who execute repetitive actions of the hand or wrist. Typing on a keyboard of a computer or laptop is actually the most common cause of this syndrome. Other repetitive works which may contribute to carpal tunnel syndrome include sewing, knitting, writing, and painting.

The best way to cure carpal tunnel syndrome is to restrain your hand from repetitive movements. In most situations, this can be done by limiting repetitive movements of hands like in typing, sewing and knitting. Another way to prevent it is by simply stretching your hand along with your wrist and fingers the rest of the day. You might also avoid further symptoms by stabilization of the fingers.

It would be disastrous if the comfort of working at home can in fact be harmful to our health, however by simple measures like stretching your hands and extreme exercise can help to assure that this is not a problem. Stay healthy!
